Matthew Vibert

December 24, 1948 — May 20, 2023

Matthew passed peacefully on his own terms on Saturday May 20th, surrounded by his loved ones.

Matthew will be sorely missed by his wife Lawrie Badger, his sons Spencer and Hartley, his siblings, Wesley, Lindsay and Gail, brothers-in-law Gregg, Matthew and Storey Badger, sister-in-law Kate Hunter, and nieces and nephews Sydney, Will and Bode Badger, Koal, Shayne, and Will Vibert. Countless other family and friends will feel his loss deeply.

Matthew was raised in Montreal where he started his career in film production. After moving to Toronto, he embarked on a successful career directing commercials. These jobs gave him the opportunity to travel the world, which he thoroughly embraced. He felt so fortunate to meet so many people, from so many cultures, and to have so many wonderful adventures.

Matthew passed on his love of travel to his sons who were the shining lights in his life. He often said that he never could have imagined the joy and richness his life would have. Some of the best times were spent at the family cottage that Matthew poured his heart and soul into building for them.

The family takes great comfort in knowing that Matthew felt that he had an amazing life, rich in meaningful relationships and full of diverse experiences. Truly a life well lived.

We will be eternally grateful to Dr. Mihaylova and the entire team at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, whose care for Matthew and the family was beyond measure. In lieu of flowers, they can be recognized and supported through My Care Hero. https://www.rvhkeeplifewild.ca/ways-to-give/special-occasion-and-tribute-giving/my-care-hero/.

A reception to celebrate Matthew and the wonderful life he had will be held on Saturday May 27, from 2:00-5:00pm at the farm at 3332 Collingwood St, just outside Creemore Ontario. If you are thinking you might attend, please email matthewcelebration@gmail.com, Thank you.
