Glenn Ronald Dufty

July 24, 1957 — April 11, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Glenn Ronald Dufty. He passed on April 11th, 2023 at Mariposa House Hospice in Severn, Ontario. He was 65 years old.

Born on July 24th, 1957 to Barbara Dufty (nee Van Dusen) and Ronald Dufty in Scarborough, Ontario. Survived by children Rhiannon (Chris), Aislinn (Adam), and Tristan (Kristy), and the mother of his children, Janette Batty. Beloved Papa D to Aiden, Avery, Riley, Griffin, and Ginny. Brother to Brant Dufty, and Blair Dufty, stepson to Wilma Phillips. He is predeceased by both parents, Barbara Dufty, and Ronald Dufty.

Glenn was born an only child and was very close to his grandfather growing up. He loved their family cottage in Haliburton. It was his sanctuary and some of our fondest family memories took place there. He also enjoyed his upbringing in Scarborough, and was still in touch with many old friends when he passed.

Glenn loved life, and his passion was to play guitar and make music. He also loved the outdoors, camping, and being on his boat. You could often find him listening to some good tunes while he barbecued and enjoyed a cold beer. He was an avid reader, Stephen King being one of his favourite authors. He would sometimes read multiple books a week. He was an excellent photographer, and his most recent hobby was rock mining and tumbling.

If you knew Glenn, you knew how intelligent he was. He was incredibly creative and observant. His mind was an infinite pit of knowledge. He was a very interesting person, and quite charismatic.

In 2008, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He battled the disease for three years, and received a stem cell transplant in 2011 that saved his life after being told it was incurable. He was so grateful to be able to stick around another 12 years and meet his grandchildren, but even so, he has left us far too soon.

He loved the animals he had and we know Boogie and Levi are wagging their tails on the other side, excited to see him again.

We honour the life of our adventurous and fun Dad, one who loved kid's toys as much as the kids did. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and though we are heartbroken he is gone, we will celebrate his life for the rest of ours.

Celebration of Life to be announced.
